Dorchester Community Church relocated to a newly constructed building in the heart of the experimental new town of Poundbury.

EMJ was commissioned to design the internal fit-out of the church. In addition, as part of a design team, we oversaw the construction of the building through to completion.

The new church building consists of a 200-seat multifunction worship space as well as a café and several meeting rooms. This flexible space has partitioning to allow for a wide variety of uses.

The church is a community hub for residents in and around the Poundbury and Dorchester area.

The previous church was located on Acland Road. In an act of fond remembrance, the new worship space is named The Acland Hall.

The Main Contractor, Hart Design and Construction did a fantastic job in completing the project within a tight timeframe to ensure speedy relocation.
